The customer flow

From product page to checkout — every step.

A pre-order runs through the product page, the cart, and Shopify's own checkout. Here's exactly what your customer sees at each stop — the Timesact marks show where the app does the work.

What you can do

Pre-orders that fit how you actually sell.

Set it once, per product or per variant. Everything renders natively in your theme — no code, no leftover mess if you ever uninstall.

Per-variant control

Put one size on pre-order while the others keep shipping. Every variant can have its own settings and its own unit limit.

$

Full payment or a deposit

Charge the full amount at checkout, or take a deposit now and let Shopify collect the balance on a date you choose. It all runs through Shopify's native checkout.

#

Orders tagged automatically

Every order with a pre-order item is tagged Pre-order the moment it's placed, so you can filter, fulfil and report on them cleanly.

Shipping dates that write themselves

Drop a shipping date into your product message once, and Timesact keeps it current — including a live count of the days left until it ships.

Turns on by itself

Run pre-order the moment a product sells out and switch it back off when you restock — or schedule it to a launch window. Your call.

No code, native to your theme

The pre-order button and message match your theme automatically. Timesact handles the Shopify setup behind the scenes — nothing for you to wire up.

Setup

Live in four steps.

Here's how you set a pre-order up. Prefer a hand? Our team will do it with you on a free call.

1

Enable the App Embed

Switch on the Timesact App Embed in your theme — that's the one activation step.

2

Pick the product & timing

Choose a product or a single variant, and when pre-order runs — on sell-out, or a date window you set.

3

Set how they pay

Full payment at checkout, or a deposit now with the balance collected on a later date.

4

Publish

The pre-order button and message go live on your theme. Preview the customer experience anytime.

Where it fits

One step in the whole lifecycle.

Coming Soon Pre-order Notify Me

Build the list with Coming Soon before launch, take orders with Pre-order, and when the window closes or you sell through, Notify Me catches everyone still waiting — the flows hand off on their own.

Questions

Pre-order, answered.

Can I take a deposit instead of charging the full amount?
Yes. You can charge the full amount at checkout, or take a deposit — a fixed amount or a percentage — now, and Shopify automatically collects the remaining balance on a date you set.
Can one size be on pre-order while the rest ship normally?
Yes — pre-order is set per variant. A single size or colour can be on pre-order while every other variant checks out as usual, and each variant can have its own unit limit.
Will I know which orders are pre-orders?
Every order that contains a pre-order item is tagged Pre-order automatically, so you can filter them in Shopify, fulfil them separately, and feed them into your email tools. Orders that mix pre-order and in-stock items also carry a Partial Pre-order tag.
When does a pre-order start and stop?
Two ways, your choice: run pre-order the moment a product sells out (and switch it off automatically when you restock), or schedule it to an exact date window for a launch.
Do I need to edit my theme?
No. Timesact is no-code — it adds the pre-order button and message to your theme for you, matches your styling, and cleans up completely if you ever uninstall.
